Lynda Deschambault, www.cccclimateleaders.org noted the organization is recognizing it's ten year anniversary in Contra Costa County, and they look forward to the draft climate action plan coming out later this year. She encouraged the Board to consider Residential Energy Conservation ordinances to include older buildings in disclosure of what energy upgrades or features a home has at the time of sale, and the divestiture of County funds (such as pension fund investments) in fossil fuel holdings. She provided a sample resolution being used by other government entities (attached);
Ben Palazzolo, Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association, http://www.pcfma.com, spoke on the high success rate of a collaborative program with WIC (Women, Infants and Children) that provides funds for program users to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables (http://www.fns.usda.gov/fmnp/wic-farmers-market-nutrition-program-fmnp); the association operates several farmers markets in the County and looks forward to working with the County to help farms be successful;
Staci DeShasier, Contra Costa Certified Farmers Markets Inc., thanked the Board for its support of farmers markets and encouraging healthy eating from a young age. The CCCFM would like to work with the District III office on outreach for greater awareness and utilization of local produce;
Nick Snyder, Contra Costa Climate Leaders, encouraged the Board and their constituents to examine and take advantage of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company's On-Bill Financing for Energy Efficiency Upgrades, a program with zero-interest financing for business customers. (brochure attached)
