The Potential Sales Tax Measure Ad Hoc Committee Working Group separated out into three break-out groups to discuss the following topics: the potential for an advisory measure to appear alongside the tax measure, clarifying the process and organization of the work group, and a group to discuss polling and strategy. The three groups reconvened and shared takeaways from their respective discussions. The group decided to form four sub-groups to meet separately and report back to the working group at its next meeting. The four subcommittees will be as follows: a political planning group, a data and budget group, a vision and goals refinement group, and a work plan formulation group. Discussed also were broad vision and goals statements, as well as some specific needs in the community that members of the group as a whole identified. Comments were shared as well regarding a sales tax to support social services being potentially regressive, and that the group should identify a vision that directs the greatest benefit of funds generated from this potential sales tax to those communities most disproportionately impacted by a sales tax. The working group tasked the vision and goals refinement group with clarifying and distilling these vision statements. | |||||||
