Referral History:

At the Board of Supervisors Ad Hoc Committee on Sustainability meeting of January 22, 2018, Public Works representatives were directed to provide additional information on the proposed Contra Costa County Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Plan. In response, the attached brief report provides a definition of DER and presents Public Works' proposed DER goals and implementation strategy.

Referral Update:

Public Works will present the Draft DER Plan to the Ad Hoc Committee on Sustainability for comment, suggestion, and direction.

PROVIDE DIRECTION to staff regarding development of a Distributed Energy Resource Plan for County facilities.

Fiscal Impact (if any):

No immediate impact. As envisioned, implementation of the DER plan elements will result in substantial rebates from PG&E and MCE and positive cash flow DER investments financed through utility bill savings.
