In the recent past, several Airport Safety Officers (ASO) have left the County either due to retirement or to pursue other opportunities, resulting in four vacancies within the Airports Division. In response, Airports staff has worked with Human Resources to conduct a recruitment for Airport Safety Officers at the I/II level.

While the number of qualified applicants for the Airport Safety Officer I and II positions was lower than previous recruitments, 14 and 6 respectively, staff conducted eleven interviews and offered positions to the top three candidates. Two of the three offers were accepted, one at ASO I level, and one at the ASO II level.

Recommendation(s)/Next Step(s):

Airports staff will continue to work with Human Resources for onboarding of the two new employees, as well as look at options to fill the remaining two vacancies.

Fiscal Impact (if any):

None. The existing positions are included in the Airport Enterprise Fund FY 2022-23 budget.
