D. 3 PUBLIC COMMENT (2 Minutes/Speaker) |
|
Susan Sing, Richmond, ACCE, urged the Board to adopt an extension to the eviction moratorium and adopt a new emergency ordinance to temporarily restrict the application of just cause to only tenants that pose an imminent threat to public health and safety;
Reverend Sophia DeWitt, Tony Bravo, Monument Impact, Betty Grabbledon, Patricia Aguilar, ACCE Pittsburg, Francisco Torres, ACCE Pittsburg, Sabir Lockett, representing faith communities of Contra Costa and Alameda counties, Eliff Essaf, Housing and Economic Polity analyst at United Way Bay Area; [Spanish] Raul Vasquez, Courtney Drafal, requested the Board extend eviction moratorium protections;
Alison Chandler, Get Vocal for Victims, said that crime victims are the only part in the criminal justice system in the courtroom who are not provided with fee free legal representation.
Additionally, when a crime victim's constitutional rights are violated, there's no remedy provided in the law to reverse the justice. Unless a crime victim has the financial resources to hire an attorney to represent them in the criminal justice process, frequently victim's voices are unheard. As many crime victims come from economically disadvantaged underserved communities of color, this inequality impacts the most vulnerable citizens of Contra Costa county. Get vocal for victims is a 501(c)(3) by providing free legal representation for crime victims through the last parole hearing for the offender;
Courtney Drafal, spoke in opposition to mask mandates, particularly in schools;,
Cheryl Suddoth, noted that October is National Disability Employment Qwareness month. The theme this year is America's Recovery Powered by Inclusion;
Marianna Moore, Ensuring Opportunity, Raise the Roof Coalition, thanked Tim Ewell, Senior Deputy County Administrator for a significant number of mini grants and outreach grants out the door to our wonderful community partners resulting in Contra Costa being one of the highest ERAF uptake rates as far as number of applications funded. Thousands of more tenants removed from risk, and to hear that conversation and participate around that conversation around how to protect tenants going forward. She further expressed appreciation to the Board of Supervisors and our County Health Department for the strong science based fact based evidence based steps being taken to protect the public and county employees in a time of covid;
Contra Costa Fire Protection District: Casimir, Z, Jacob Keefe, Brent Bowling, Jacob Keefe, Josh Andrews, No Name Given, Ron Davis, Eric Sheffield, Jordan Abed, and Tim Reimer, Sether Campbell, John Saglee, Vince Wells, Rob Garragaty, Brock Wendborn, Steve Sawyer, Dennis Weir, Andre, Vito Impastato, Carl Ferrer, Jared Fleece, Noel Lewis, Johnny, Shane Morris, Matthew Ramirez, Schuyler Fitzgerald, Adam Shott, Stephen Morrison, Vince K., Josh Ramirez, Austin, Brian Stansbury, Mike, Nick Vanderberg, R.W., Colin Spencer, Nick, Brian George ; all oppose the implementation of a mandatory vaccine policy that does not incorporate a testing option. |
