RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Kristin Bodiford dba Community Strengths, effective October 1, 2021, to increase the payment limit by $40,000 to a new payment limit not to exceed $318,800 for continued consultation services in support of the Families Thrive and Call to Action Initiatives with no change to the term of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$318,800: $298,800 County (94%); $20,000 Other-Grant funding (6%).

BACKGROUND:

This contract addresses the social needs of the County's population by providing consulting services around the Families Thrive Project development as well as the County Call to Action Initiatives. The Families Thrive Project actively supports learning and collaboration to address the specific needs of children, youth and families impacted by trauma and intimate partner violence. The Contra Costa County Call to Action Initiatives serve as a guide for the County’s coordinated and strategic action to correct the epidemic of interpersonal violence.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

The original contract was for a payment limit not to exceed $278,800. This amendment is to correct this payment limit which should have been not to exceed $318,800 and increase the number of service hours that need to be dedicated to the Families Thrive project as well as the County Call to Action Initiatives

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Employment and Human Services Department will be unable to effectively facilitate the Families Thrive or Call to Action Programs which will prevent strategic action being taken to correct the epidemic of interpersonal violence.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

This contract supports 4 of 5 of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes: (2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; (3)"Families that are Economically Self-Sufficient"; (4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and (5)"Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families” by supporting the Families Thrive and Contra Costa County Call to Action.
