RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board, to accept a grant in the amount of $20,000 from Wells Fargo Foundation for Small Business Development Center services to low-to-moderate income individuals for the period January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020

FISCAL IMPACT:

County to receive grant funding in the amount of $20,000 from the Wells Fargo Foundation. No County match is required.

BACKGROUND:

The Workforce Development Board promotes a workforce development system that meets the needs of businesses, job seekers, and workers to support a strong and vibrant economy in Contra Costa County,  







BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
This grant funding will be used to provide the Workforce Development Board with Small Business Development Center services. These services will identify and execute outreach to low-to-moderate income individuals, and supply these County residents with group and individuals education, training and guidance. The goals are to improve workforce development, job creation, sustainability and self sufficiency.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without funding, Small Business Development Center services would not be expanded.
