RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #27-985-1 with John H. Karan, M.D. (dba Delta Medical Neurology), an individual, in an amount not to exceed $175,000 to provide neurology services to Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) members for the period September 1, 2018 through August 31, 2020.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded 100% by CCHP Enterprise Fund II. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

In October 2016, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #27-985 with John Karan, M.D. (dba Delta Medical Neurology), to provide neurology services to CCHP members, for the period from September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2018.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract #27-985-1 will allow the contractor to continue providing neurology services through August 31, 2020.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, certain specialized health care services for CCHP members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County will not be provided.
