RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Agreement #28-373 with American Red Cross, Contra Costa County, Northern California Coastal Region (ARC), a non-profit corporation, to define the relationship in preparing for and responding to disaster relief situations, for the period from September 1, 2018 and remaining in effect unless terminated by either party upon 30 days advance written notice.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This is a non-financial agreement.

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this agreement is to set forth the framework for cooperation between the ARC and Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) in rendering assistance and services to individuals and families affected by disasters. CCHS is responsible for managing medical/health preparedness and response/recover efforts at the County level. CCHS is also responsible for the Medical/Health Operation Area Coordination (MHOAC) Program to identify needs and coordinate procurement of public and private medical, health and other resources to support disaster medical and health operations within and outside of the local area. ARC will assist CCHS with these efforts.

Approval of Agreement #28-373 will set forth the cooperation between the parties in rendering assistance and services to individuals and families affected by disasters.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this agreement is not approved, the County and the ARC will not have its coordination set forth in an agreement.
