Using voter-approved Measure WW allocated grant funds to local parks for improvements, Special Districts, in conjunction with Supervisor Glover’s Staff, Rodeo Municipal Advisory Committee, CSA R-10 Advisory Committee, and the John Swett Unified School District developed improvements for Lefty Gomez Park, which included construction of a concession booth that includes a restroom, announcer’s stand, kitchen, and extra storage.
On September 22, 2015, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Public Works Director to execute a construction contract with Thompson for the Lefty Gomez Improvements. The contract work has been completed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications, and Change Order Nos. 1 though 9, at a cost of $652,473.47. The park was opened to the public on April 28, 2018. The project acceptance includes a withholding in the amount of the retention ($32,623.67) to ensure completion of the project closeout items.
Accepting a contract as complete is a standard procedure, is required by law following substantial completion and public use of the project, and allows for proper closeout of the project. If the contract is not accepted as complete, the period for filing stop payment notices and bond claims on the contract may be extended.
