RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, a purchase order with Tiernan Leino Dental Laboratory in an amount not to exceed $240,000 for dental supplies and prosthetics for the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers, and the Martinez and West County Detention Facilities for the period of September 1, 2018 through August 31, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

The CCRMC and Health Centers, and the Martinez and West County Detention facilities purchase large quantities of dental supplies and prosthetics from this vendor. All of these locations treat numerous patients, both adult and children. The detention facilities treat the prisoners incarcerated there. This vendor’s products are required to provide dental care for the County's patients.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved, the CCRMC and Health Centers, and the County's Detention Facilities may not be able to provide full dental service to its patients.
