APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board, to apply for and accept funding in an amount not to exceed $20,000 from Wells Fargo Foundation for Small Business Development Center services to low-to-moderate income individuals for the period January 1, 2019 through December31, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The County will receive an amount not to exceed $20,000 from the Wells Fargo Foundation, with no County match.

BACKGROUND:

The Workforce Development Board promotes a workforce development system that meets the needs of businesses, job seekers, and workers, to support a strong and vibrant economy in Contra Costa County.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
The grant funding will be used to provide the Workforce Development Board with Small Business Development Center services. Services will identify and execute outreach to low-to-moderate income individuals, and supply these residents with group and individual advising, education, and training. The goals are to improve workforce development, job creation, sustainability and self-sufficiency of residents.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without funding, the Small Business Development Center could not implement expanded service delivery for the development of self sufficiency.
