RECOMMENDATION(S):

AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Department, a purchase order with Watermark Medical, in an amount not to exceed $432,000 for the rental of monitors, related patient supplies, and on-line management of Sleep Study results for the Cardiopulmonary Unit of the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

This purchase order request is for Home Sleep Study related monitor rental, patient supplies and on-line management of test results with CCRMC physician interpretation. This vendor has been providing this service for the past 5 years. The testing is needed to determine the medical management of patients with symptoms of sleep disordered breathing.






CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved, the Cardiopulmonary Department will not be able to provide diagnostic testing for patients suspected of sleep disordered breathing. When left untreated, this condition can cause worsening of cardiac and pulmonary diseases and endocrine disorders, resulting in increased incidents of hospital admissions for patients. This scenario would negatively impact the PRIME directive to manage these chronic disease conditions and result in decreased federal funding.
