RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21744 to add one (1) Registered Nurse-Experienced Level (VWXD) position ($7,305-$8,142) in the Contra Costa Health Plan division of the Health Services Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The additional costs associated with this action are approximately $156,770 annually with benefits, including $34,687 in pension costs. Costs will be funded by CCHP Enterprise Fund II (100%).

BACKGROUND:

Contra Costa Health Plan's Utilization Management/Authorization unit is in need of a full-time Registered Nurse-Experienced Level. This position will provide back-up to the UM/Authorization RN assigned to Mental Health. The Mental Health UM/Authorization Nurse coordinates mental health care by working directly with members and providers.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
With the roll out of a new ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) benefit, there is a need for an additional RN to support CCHP members obtaining mental health care. This new position would also be responsible for the coordination of care between the Regional Center of the East Bay (RCEB) Case Managers, Autism Coordinators and CAAD Coordinators.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved and without additional staff, Contra Costa Health Plan will not have adequate staffing to meet the mandated requirements of the Plan.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
