RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract Amendment Agreement #76-624-4 with Sharjo, Inc. (dba Service Master Restoration Services), effective August 1, 2020, to increase the payment limit by $2,557,901 from $1,142,099 to a new payment limit of $3,700,000 with no change in the original term of December 1, 2019 through November 30, 2020.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded by 100% Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On November 12, 2019, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #76-624-1 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #76-624-3) with Sharjo, Inc. (dba Service Master Restoration Services) to provide emergency restoration services to resolve emergency events requiring immediate assistance as determined by the Facilities Administration staff at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers for the period December 1, 2019 through November 30, 2020.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the County has increased the utilization of this Contractor’s services to perform ongoing daily deep cleaning services. The Division underestimated the increased utilization of services from this Contractor and is requesting additional funding to continue to provide the ongoing daily deep cleaning services, therefore, the Division is requesting an increase in the Contractor’s payment limit for the term of this contract in the amount of $2,557,901.

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #76-624-4 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide additional ongoing daily emergency deep cleaning and restoration services to resolve emergency events requiring immediate assistance during the COVID 19 pandemic as determined by the Facilities Administration staff at CCRMC and Health Centers through November 30, 2020.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, County will not have the deep cleaning and restoration services provided by this Contractor during the COVID-19 pandemic.
