RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Resolution No. 2020/216 approving a Side Letter between Contra Costa County and Public Employees Union, Local One (Local One) by expanding the eligibility for Holiday Pay to the Weed and Vertebrate Pest Control Technician - Project classification and amending Section 53.1.A.3 - Department of Agriculture Personnel, of the Memorandum of Understanding.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The fiscal impact has an estimated annual cost of $2,400.

BACKGROUND:

In January, 2020, the Weed and Vertebrate Pest Control Technician-Project (B9W4) classification was established in the Department of Agriculture. The intent was for the new classification to have the same salary and benefits as the other three Permanent Intermittent positions listed in Section 53.1.A..3 - Department of Agriculture Personnel. The new positions were budgeted to include holiday pay; however, the Local One MOU does not include this classification as being eligible for holiday pay. This side letter will update the MOU to include this classification.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Weed and Vertebrate Pest Control Technician-Project classification will not receive holiday pay and the current provisions of the 2016-2022 MOU will not be amended.
