RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #72-151 with Dascena, Inc., a corporation, including mutual indemnification, in an amount not to exceed $8,550,000 to provide COVID -19 clinical laboratory services for Contra Costa Health Services, effective on July 7, 2020 and automatically renewed for a period of one year or until earlier terminated by either party.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% Federal emergency response aid, including CARES Act and/or FEMA funding.

BACKGROUND:

This contract will establish a relationship between CCHS and Contractor to increase the County's ability to processes lab specimens related to COVID-19 testing collected throughout the County and reduce delays in receiving test results.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract #72-151 will allow Contractor to provide clinical laboratory services for CCHS. This Contract includes mutual indemnification to hold harmless both parties for any claims arising out of the performance of this Contract.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Contract is not approved, County will not have access to Contractor’s clinical laboratory services and COVID-19 testing results will continue to be delayed.
