RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #76-662-1 with FirstLocum, Inc. (dba Directshifts), a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $1,400,000, to provide temporary physician services and recruitment services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers for the period from August 1, 2020 through July 31, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On August 6, 2019, the Board of Supervisors approved #76-662 with FirstLocum, Inc. (dba Directshifts) to provide temporary physician services for CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers to cover employee sick leaves, vacations and workers compensation leaves, for the period from August 1, 2019 through July 31, 2020.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract #76-662-1 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide physician services and recruitment services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers through July 31, 2021.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients requiring physician services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers will not have access to Contractor’s services.
