RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute an amendment to the ambulance services contract with the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District to extend the term through April 30, 2020, for continued emergency ambulance service in the County’s Emergency Response Area IV.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No general fund impact.  

BACKGROUND:

Emergency Response Area IV is one of five ambulance operating areas in Contra Costa County. On December 9, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved an ambulance services contract with the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District (Contract No. 23-055-19) for the provision of emergency ambulance services in Emergency Response Area IV (San Ramon Valley area) through October 31, 2018.

On June 5, 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved an amendment to the ambulance services contract with the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District to extend the term through October 31, 2019. (Contract No. 23-055-20)  
  
Approval of a six-month extension of the ambulance services contract with the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District will allow the fire district to continue providing emergency ambulance services in Emergency Response Area IV through April 30, 2020.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Emergency ambulance services would not be provided in Emergency Response Area IV.
