RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, a purchase order with Stryker Corporation in an amount not to exceed $209,178 for the replacement of the powered surgical instruments for the Surgery Unit at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC).

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

The CCRMC’s powered surgical instruments have served the hospital well over the years and they have reached their end of service and are in need of replacement. The purchase of this equipment will ensure that the staff has access to the safest and most reliable surgical instruments to continue providing the highest quality of care to our patients.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved, the CCRMC and Health Centers will be unable to provide the safest, most reliable equipment to patients or staff.
