RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Denalect Inc., to increase the payment limit by $150,000 to a new payment limit of $450,000, to provide alarm monitoring services, with no change to the original term of July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2018, Countywide.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This cost is to be funded through Facilities Services occupancy costs. (100% General Fund)

BACKGROUND:

Public Works Facilities Services is responsible for electronic system (alarm) monitoring in county buildings. Denalect Inc., was identified as the County’s standard for this type of monitoring, and all alarmed buildings now have Denalect equipment installed in them. Facilities Services is in the process of upgrading the equipment in each monitored facility. This request is to allow payment of these costs.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract amendment is not approved, upgrading the equipment in each monitored facility will be discontinued and outdated alarm systems not replaced which can affect building security.
