RECOMMENDATION(S):

REAPPOINT the following individual to the District II Seat of the Assessment Appeals Board for a three-year term with an expiration date of September 2, 2019, as recommended by Supervisor Candace Andersen:

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.

BACKGROUND:

Established May 29, 1973 by Ordinance 73-45, the Assessment Appeals Board is the Board of Equalization for the County, with the power to equalize the valuation of the taxable property in the County for the purpose of taxation and review, as well as equalize and adjust penal and escaped assessments on the roll. There are five Appeals Board Members. To be eligible for these positions, a person must meet the following qualifications: 1. Be knowledgeable in the area of property appraisal and taxation. 2. Have a minimum of five years professional experience in California as one of the following: Certified Public Accountant, Public Accountant, Licensed Real Estate Broker, Attorney, or Property Appraiser accredited by a national professional organization. 3. Five years experience in California as an appraiser certified by the State Board of Equalization. Assessment Appeals Board members serve staggered three year terms.  
  
Supervisor Andersen has been pleased with Mr. D'Ambrogia's commitment and involvement on the Appeals Board and would like him to continue to serve as the District II representative.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The District II Seat will become vacant.
