RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #26-749-10 with Stanford Health Care (dba SHC Reference Laboratory), a non-profit corporation, including mutual indemnification, in an amount not to exceed $45,000, to provide outside clinical laboratory services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers, for the period from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this contract will result in annual contractual services of up to $45,000 and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (Rate Increase)

BACKGROUND:

CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers have an obligation to provide specialized outside clinical laboratory testing services for tests that are rarely requested and require special equipment which CCRMC does not have onsite. This contractor has been providing outside clinical laboratory testing for CCRMC since July 1, 2015.

In May 2021, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #26-749-9 with Stanford Health Care (dba SHC Reference Laboratory), in the amount not to exceed $45,000 for the provision of specialized outside clinical laboratory testing services for tests requiring special equipment which CCRMC does not have onsite for the period July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022.  
  
Approval of Contract #26-749-10 will allow contractor to continue providing outside clinical laboratory services for CCRMC and Health Centers through June 30, 2023. This contract contains mutual indemnification.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, CCRMC and Health Centers will not have access to this contractor’s specialty outside laboratory testing services.
