RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #76-747-1 with Matthew J. Tafoya, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $600,000 for the provision of medical services at the Emergency Department at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), for the period from August 1, 2022 through July 31, 2025.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract will result in contractual service expenditures of up to $600,000 over a three-year period and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues. (No rate Increase)

BACKGROUND:

CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers have an obligation to provide medical health services to patients, including, but not limited to emergency department medical health services. This contractor has been providing these specialized services at CCRMC since August 1, 2021.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

In July 2021, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #76-747, with Matthew J. Tafoya, M.D., in the amount of $197,000 for the provision of medical services at the Emergency Department at CCRMC, for the period August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2022.

Approval of contract #76-747-1 will allow contractor to continue providing medical services at the Emergency Department at CCRMC through July 31, 2025.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, CCRMC and Health Centers will not have access to this contractor’s emergency medical services.
