RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 25990 to add one (1) full-time Community Library Manager (3AGG) (represented) position at salary plan and grade ZAX 1000 ($6,916.31 - $8,832.42) in the Library Department, at the Dougherty Station Library.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost to the Library Fund of approximately $130,086.

BACKGROUND:

The Library has been working on a reallocation of resources to create more efficient staffing at its branch locations. As part of that plan, the Library has increased or modified hours at various locations, including at the Dougherty Library. As a result of this change, the Library has determined that the Dougherty community would be better served with a full-time manager at that location. Currently, the Dougherty Station and San Ramon Libraries share a single manager. The Library has determined that a manager at each location would better serve the needs of the public. This will allow for more services to be available in the branch and to provide needed flexibility in service to the community.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this position change is not approved, the Library will not have adequate staffing to serve the public at the Dougherty Station Library.
