RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a Consulting Services Agreement (contract) with Terracon Consultants, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $800,000, for the period July 26, 2022 through June 21, 2025, to provide on-call geotechnical engineering services, Countywide. (Project Nos. Various) (All Districts)

FISCAL IMPACT:

Work performed under this on-call contract will be funded by 100% Local Road and Flood Control Funds.

BACKGROUND:

The Public Works Department is involved in various projects in the County that require geotechnical engineering services for road and flood control projects. After a solicitation process, Terracon Consultants, Inc. was selected as one of eight firms to provide geotechnical engineering services on an “on-call” basis. Terracon Consultants, Inc. will be used to provide geotechnical engineering service as in-house expertise is not available. This on-call contract will be in effect for thirty-five months.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Government Code Section 31000 and 4525 authorizes the County to contract for services, including the type of geotechnical engineering services that Terracon Consultants, Inc. provides.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without approval from the Board of Supervisors, there is possible delay in completing projects requiring geotechnical engineering services. Executing this contract will facilitate the process of design and construction for various Public Works projects requiring geotechnical engineering expertise.
