RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 25980 to establish the Program and Project Coordinator-Project (APH1) classification, and add one (1) position at a salary plan and grade ZA2 1771 ($8,061-$9,822) in the Probation Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this request has an annual cost of approximately $165,428 which includes $25,552 in pension costs. This action is funded 100% by Measure X revenue.

BACKGROUND:

Over the course of several months from the Fall of last year to the Spring of this year, the Board of Supervisors held community meetings in which proposals for Measure X funding allocations were received. As a result of these meetings, Probation was allocated one-time funding of $2 million for the creation of a Restorative Justice project. As part of Probation’s proposal, the Department requested partial use of these one-time funds for staffing and administration of the Restorative Justice project. The Department seeks to hire a Programs and Project Coordinator-Project position to provide oversight and support the implementation of the project for the next three years.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, there will be insufficient administrative support for the Department's oversight and support of the Restorative Justice project.
