RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 22499 to reclassify position #14377 from Pharmacist I (VYWA) (represented) at salary plan and grade level TC5-1998 ($11,756 - $13,609) to Clinical and Drug Information Coordinator (VYSD) (represented) at salary plan and grade level TC5-1923 ($10,915-$13,929) in the Health Services Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval there is an annual cost increase of approximately $25,287 with pension costs of $6,903 already included. The entire cost will be funded 100% by Mental Health Services Act.

BACKGROUND:

A classification study was conducted on a single position currently allocated to the Pharmacist I classification assigned to the Behavioral Health Unit of the Health Services Department. In 2011, the Behavioral Health Unit had a need for someone with a Pharmacist background to conduct medication monitoring part-time and utilized the Pharmacist I classification to hire someone for this task. The responsibility grew from three clinics to 11 clinics and the position changed to full-time in 2013. Additionally, the position scope included consultation, education and training, reporting, and quality improvement. This work is most aligned with the Clinical and Drug Information Coordinator which is responsible for this scope of work and requires a Pharmacist license. Upon review and analysis, Human Resources recommends the position be reclassified to Clinical and Drug Information Coordinator.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the incumbent will not be appropriately classified.
