RECOMMENDATION(S):

Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) (0501, 0502, 0504, 0588) / Plant Acquisition (0111): APPROVE Appropriation Adjustment No. 5060 in the amount of $2,615,814 to transfer prior year appropriations from EHSD and Probation to the Public Works Department for several capital projects, as recommended by the Employment and Human Services Director.

FISCAL IMPACT:

EHSD Capital Improvement and General Maintenance appropriations and Probation Department appropriations will be reduced by $2,615,814 and transferred to Public Works for Capital Projects. This consists of 100% County budgeted funds and no additional County general fund costs will result from these adjustments.

BACKGROUND:

The Public Works Department has identified the need of upgrades and repairs for a number of projects for County-owned buildings including: 1305 Macdonald Ave. in Richmond; 151 Linus Pauling Ave. in Hercules; 4549 Delta Fair in Antioch; 3068 Grant St. in Concord; and 40 Douglas Dr. in Martinez. Total costs are estimated at $2,615,814.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Appropriations will not be properly allocated and much needed repairs ensuring the safety of County staff and clients will not be done.
