RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 25775 to add one (1) Community and Media Relations Specialist (APTC) (represented) position at Salary Plan and Grade TB5 1511 ($6,049 - $7,352) and cancel one (1) Cable TV Programming Coordinator (ADSD) (represented) vacant position number 13916 at Salary Plan and Grade ZB5 1232 ($4,588 - $5,577) in the County Administrator’s Office, Contra Costa Television Division.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost increase of approximately $10,000. This increase will be funded with Franchise Fee revenue within the Contra Costa Television Division (100% General Fund).

BACKGROUND:

The Cable TV Programming Coordinator position is currently vacant, and has been for some time. After a review of operational needs, it has been determined the classification of Community & Media Relations Specialist would better fit the organization and meet public education and communications needs going forward. With the increased volume and pace of countywide communications, including information for public safety, this office would like to make this change to more effectively and better serve the public.



CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, operational needs of the department will not be met, high level support for public education and communications will not be available to the Director and Operations Director for CCTV, and the ability to rapidly disseminate Countywide communications may be negatively impacted.
