RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 25779 to add one Hazardous Material Specialist I position (V4WG) at salary plan and grade level T35-1642 ($6621 - $8048) in the Health Services Department. (Represented)

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this request has an annual cost of approximately $160,495 with pension costs of $36,366 already included. The position cost will be 100% funded by Hazardous Materials program fee generated revenue.

BACKGROUND:

The Health Services Department is requesting one permanent full-time Hazardous Material Specialist I position allocated to the Hazardous Materials Division. This position will be assigned to the Certified Unified Program Agency program with the expectation of performing a variety of hazardous materials/hazardous waste inspection and regulatory enforcement activities. Additionally, the incumbent may serve as a member of the Incident Response (IR) Team responding to emergency hazardous materials/hazardous waste releases.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, there will not be sufficient staff to meet the operations of the Hazardous Materials/Waste program.
