RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Novation Contract #28–541–28, including mutual indemnification with the City of Richmond, for its Community Services Department, to pay the County in an amount not to exceed $10,000, to provide congregate meal services for County’s Senior Nutrition Program, for the period from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, which includes a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The agency will pay the County the voluntary contributions it receives from participating seniors, after it has paid its authorized expenses. No County match is required.

BACKGROUND:

This contract meets the social needs of County’s population by providing an average of thirty (30) congregate meals per day, five days per week for senior citizens at its Congregate Senior Nutrition site in Richmond.

On July 14, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #28–541–27 with the City of Richmond, for its Community Services Department, to provide congregate meal services for County’s Senior Nutrition Program for the period from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021, which included a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2021.

Approval of Novation Contract #28–541–28 replaces the automatic extension under the prior contract and allows the agency to continue providing services through June 30, 2022. This contract includes mutual indemnification.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, senior citizens who depend on the County’s Senior Nutrition Program will not receive meals at the contractor’s facility.
