RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPOINT, in lieu of election; William Pigeon, Lafayette, CA 94549, as Alternate Safety Member #7 of the Contra Costa County Employees' Retirement Association Board of Trustees to a term beginning July 1, 2020 and ending June 30, 2023.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None

BACKGROUND:

Only one candidate filed for Alternate Safety Member #7 of the Contra Costa County Retirement Board, which election was scheduled for September 29, 2020. Election Code section 10515 requires that candidates who filed for an office for which the number of candidates equaled or did not exceed the number required to be elected, be "Appointed-in-Lieu of Election" by the Board of Supervisors as if they were elected.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Should the Board take no or negative action, the candidate will not be sworn in as provided by law.
