RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Ordinance No. 2020-18 amending the County Ordinance Code to re-title the Deputy Director of Information Technology-Exempt (LTD1) classification to the new title of Information Systems Division Director-Exempt (LTD1) in the list of classifications excluded from the merit system.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact associated with re-titling or exempting this class from the Merit System.

BACKGROUND:

In 2019 there was a classification study done on various unrepresented management positions in the Department of Information Technology. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the organizational structure of the Department's leadership, and to make recommendations on any changes necessary to assist the department in achieving their operational objectives. One of the findings of this study was that the title of Deputy Director of Information Technology - Exempt did not accurately describe the use of this classification. The recommended title of Information Systems Division Director - Exempt more accurately describes the scope of work and responsibility assigned to positions in this classification.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The title of the classification will not accurately reflect the scope of work and responsibility assigned to positions within this classification.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact.
