RECOMMENDATION(S):

RECEIVE a presentation regarding the joint wildland fire planning efforts between the Fire District and the Office of the Sheriff and how citizens can contribute to successful outcomes during this fire season.

BACKGROUND:

Large and disastrous wildfires reinforce the need to plan and prepare for a coordinated response to potentially devastating fires. The Fire District and the Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services have been active in coordinating and collaborating with partners in the county and throughout the region and state in preparing for the threat of wildfires. As requested by the Board, the two agencies have collaborated on this presentation which provides an overview of their collaborative efforts and their plans for the evolving fire season. It also suggests how citizens can contribute to successful outcomes in relation to wildland fires and other disasters.
