RECOMMENDATION(S):

RESCIND Traffic Resolution No. 2009/4295 and ADOPT Traffic Resolution No. 2019/4485 to establish a prohibited parking zone, with the exception of a five (5) minute limit for passenger loading and unloading (white curb), on a portion of the south side of Wayne Drive (Road No. 4057AK), Walnut Creek area.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

In 2009, a section of Wayne Drive was established as a "Taxi Loading and Unloading" zone by Traffic Resolution and marked with white curb and associated signage. The Traffic Section of Public Works Department was recently requested to consider remarking the same location as a loading unloading zone for all vehicles, in order to capture ridesharing and carpool services, as well as taxis. Considering the many users who could be better served at this location, aside from only taxi riders, and with the support of the Supervisors Office, we recommend this change. If approved, this location in Contra Costa Centre will provide a dedicated and unrestricted zone for limited time passenger pick up and drop off.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

This location will remain a loading and unloading passenger zone for taxis only.
