RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE a lease amendment between Contra Costa County (County) and Telecare Corporation (Telecare), to extend the lease of approximately 6,840 square feet of rentable space located at 300 Ilene Street, Martinez, for an additional year beginning July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020, as requested by the Health Services Department.

AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute the lease amendment and future amendments under the terms and conditions set forth in the original lease.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Hospital Enterprise Fund.

BACKGROUND:

The County-owned building at 300 Ilene Street in Martinez was built in 2014 as a residential crisis facility for both male and female adult residents. The Health Services Department entered into a service contract with Telecare Corporation to provide residential crisis services at this location. The lease provides Telecare’s occupancy of the County building to provide those services. In consideration for services rendered by Telecare, the County does not receive any rental income for the lease.

The Health Services Department intends to extend its service contract with Telecare for an additional year beginning July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020 and has requested that the lease with Telecare follow in the same manner.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the lease amendment is not approved, the Health Services Department may experience interruptions in its ability to provide residential crisis services to the surrounding communities.
