RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, an amendment to Purchase Order #F12309 with the California Department of Public Health, Genetic Disease Screening Program to increase the payment limit by $50,000 to a new payment limit of $325,000 for guidelines, forms, and supplies for newborn genetic screening at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) with no change to the original term of July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

The California Department of Public Health requires that CCRMC performs genetic screening tests on all newborn babies born at CCRMC. The State supplies the guidelines, forms, and supplies for this testing. This testing ensures that at risk newborns are diagnosed as soon as possible so that they may be treated.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, the CCRMC Clinical Laboratory will not be able to perform patient testing required by the State of California for prenatal patients.
