RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, an amendment to Purchase Order #F09018 with Steris Corporation. to increase the payment limit by $100,000 to a new payment limit of $175,000 for the purchase of medical supplies for the Sterile Processing Unit at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) with no change in the original term of September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

Steris Corporation provides products that are used to run and clean steam machines and washers for surgical instruments, gastrointestinal scopes and case carts. In the Sterile Processing Unit, which is a part of the CCRMC Intra-Operative Unit, Steris (gas) is used for sterilizing all of our supplies and instruments needed for surgeries. The reason for this amendment is to increase the funding for this period in order to meet the demands in this Unit and provide safe care to all of our patients undergoing surgeries.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase order is not approved, the CCRMC Sterile Processing Unit cannot sterilize all instruments, scopes and supplies needed for all surgeries performed in the operating room.
