RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 22326 to reallocate one part time (24/40) Occupational Therapist I (V5VG) position #8269 at salary plan and grade TC5-1651 ($6,297-$7,654) from Department 0540, Health Services - Hospital Enterprises, Org 6379, Occupational Therapy, to Department 0301, Health Services Detention, Org 5710, Martinez Detention Mental Health in the Health Services Department. (Represented)

FISCAL IMPACT:

The approximate annual cost of the position is $89,979, which includes pension costs of $19,565. The position will be funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

The Health Services Department is requesting to reallocate one permanent part time Occupational Therapist I position from Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) to the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). It is the Department’s intention to increase the services that are available to the incarcerated population with mental health issues. The duties of this position include developing a group program that focuses on aspects of cognitive functioning, including activities of daily living, emotional regulation and social skills building. These services will be supported by the Rehabilitation staff at CCRMC. Staff will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams within MDF to assist inmates in achieving their goals.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Failure to approve this request will limit the ability of the Rehabilitation Unit to expand services to the incarcerated population at the Martinez Detention Facility.
