RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #24-979-34 with Addiction Research and Treatment, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $7,522,370 to provide methadone maintenance treatment services for County residents for the period July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded by 50% Federal Drug Medi-Cal and 50% State Drug Medi-Cal. (Rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On July 18, 2017, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24-979-33 with Addiction Research and Treatment, Inc. (dba Bay Area Addiction Research and Treatment), to provide methadone treatment services through its Methadone Maintenance Clinics Program (Medi-Cal Drug Abuse Treatment Services) in East and West Contra Costa County, for the period from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.

Approval of Contract #24-979-34 will allow the contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2019.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, Contra Costa County residents will not receive the specialized substance abuse treatment services needed to provide them an opportunity to achieve sobriety and recover from the effects of alcohol and other drug use, become self-sufficient, and return to their families as productive individuals.
