RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #26-661-9 with Planned Parenthood, Shasta Diablo, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $1,274,700 for the provision of prenatal services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers’ patients for the period July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (Rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On July 11, 2017, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-661-8 with Planned Parenthood, Shasta Diablo, Inc. to provide its licensed and certified personnel to perform prenatal services to CCRMC and Health Centers’ patients at County’s leased clinic facilities located in Concord, Richmond and Antioch, for the period from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract #26-661-9 will allow contractor to continue to provide prenatal services to CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers’ patients at County’s leased clinic facilities located in Concord, Richmond and Antioch through June 30, 2019.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, a significant number of low-income women in the County would not have access to prenatal services or directed to County Health Services sites that are further away and have limited availability.
