RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Massone Mechanical, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $800,000 for the period of June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2021, for refrigeration repair services. Countywide. (100% General Fund)

FISCAL IMPACT:

This cost is to be funded through Public Works Facilities Services budget. (100% General Fund)

BACKGROUND:

Public Works Facilities Services is responsible for maintenance and repair for all County refrigeration units. Various facilities maintain commercial kitchen refrigeration units which require maintenance and repair. Repair of these units is sublet to outside vendors by Facilities Services. Massone Mechanical will be able to negotiate rate increases on each anniversary of the effective date of this Contract by a factor equal to the rate of increase in the Consumer Price Index for the San Francisco – Oakland area as published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics for the year immediately preceding, plus 2%. Facilities Services is requesting a contract with Massone Mechanical to be approved for a period covering the next three years.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, refrigeration repair services with Massone Mechanical will be discontinued.
