FISCAL IMPACT:

None

BACKGROUND:

The Historical Landmarks Advisory Committee (HLAC) has five members, comprised of four nominees from the Contra Costa County Historical Society, and the Department of Conservation and Development Director serves as the fifth member.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

In a letter dated June 14, 2018, Ms. Priscilla Couden, the Executive Director of the Contra Costa County Historical Society, expressed the Board of Directors’ recommendation to nominate Melissa Jacobsen to Seat 1, Melinda McCrary to Seat 2, Raymond O'Brien to Seat 3, and Carol Jensen to Seat 4 of the Contra Costa County Historical Landmarks Advisory Committee (HLAC). Terms are 48 months and will begin upon the expiration of the current terms on August 13, 2018 and will expire on August 12, 2022.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the Board does not act, then the HLAC will have five vacant seats beginning on August 12, 2018, and would be unable to meet to conduct business.
