RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Blanket Purchase Order with Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $370,000 to purchase reagents and supplies for the D-100 Hemoglobin Testing System at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), for the period from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

The CCRMC Clinical Laboratory uses Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. for reagents, various controls, media and supplies for the D-100 Hemoglobin Testing System, which tests for iron deficiency and polycythemia. It is also used for hemoglobin A1C testing in patients with diabetes.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, the CCRMC Clinical Laboratory will not be able to perform patient testing, thus impacting patient safety and health.
