RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with the California Department of Public Health, Genetic Disease Branch, in an amount not exceed $275,000, for the testing of newborn genetic screening tests at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), for the period of July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.
BACKGROUND:
The California Department of Public Health requires that the CCRMC performs genetic screening tests on all newborn babies born at the CCRMC. The state supplies the guidelines, forms, and supplies for this testing. This testing ensures that at-risk newborns are diagnosed as soon as possible so that they may be treated.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Purchase Order is not approved, the CCRMC Clinical Laboratory will not be able to perform patient testing required by the State of California.
