RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-968-15 with Thomas Paige, M.D., an individual, effective August 1, 2016, to amend Contract #26-968-14 to increase the payment limit by $4,000 from $348,000 to a new payment limit of $352,000, with no change in the original term of October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On September 24, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-968-14 for the provision of dermatology services including but not limited to: clinic coverage, consultation, training and medical procedures at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2016. At the time of negotiations, the payment limit was based on target levels of utilization. However, the utilization during the term of the agreement was higher than originally anticipated.

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-968-15 will allow the Contractor to provide additional hours of dermatology services through September 30, 2016.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring dermatology services will not have access to Contractor’s services.
