RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa, to execute a contract with Contra Costa County Office of Education to pay County an amount not to exceed $175,000 from the Diablo Gateways to Innovation California Career Pathways Trust Grant to provide employer engagement and work-based learning strategies for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

County to receive an amount not to exceed $175,000 from the Contra Costa County Office of Education. (No County match)

BACKGROUND:

Employment and Human Services, Workforce Development Board Bureau, will provide work-based learning and employer engagement support on behalf of the Diablo Gateway to Innovation consortium. The scope of services includes, but are not limited to increase of work-based learning activities, increase of employer engagement, earn and learn communication, and implementation of sustainable employer engagement processes.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without funding, Employment and Human Services, Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa would be unable to develop and implement employment engagement and work-based learning strategies.
