RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #74-448-4 with Edward Lau, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $266,240, to provide outpatient psychiatric care services for the period from September 1, 2016 through August 31, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 50% Federal Financial Participation; 50% Mental Health Realignment. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On June 6, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-448-3 with Edward Lau, M.D., for the period from September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2016, for the provision of outpatient psychiatric care services for children at the East County Children’s Clinic. Approval of Contract #74-448-4 will allow the Contractor to continue providing outpatient psychiatric care services through August 31, 2017.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will not have access to Contractor’s psychiatric care services.
