RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-288-5 with Western University of Health Sciences (dba Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific), an educational institution, effective July 1, 2016, to amend contract #26-288-4 to modify the Program Plan to add Medical Doctorate and Doctor of Osteopathy students, with no change in the original term of December 1, 2015 through December 31, 2020.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Non-financial agreement.  

BACKGROUND:

On December 8, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-288-4 with Western University of Health Sciences (dba Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific), for the provision of providing supervised field instruction experience to physical therapy students with Contra Costa Health Services, for the period from December 1, 2015 through December 31, 2020.




BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-288-5 will modify the Program Plan to include Medical Doctorate and Doctorate of Osteopathy students and allow students to continue to receive field instruction at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, through December 31, 2020.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Medical Doctorate and Doctorate of Osteopathy students from Western University of Health Sciences will not be able to receive field instruction at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.
